How Many Players Can Play?
Escape the Backrooms supports up to 4 players in a co-op lobby. There is no competitive mode, no PvP, and no public matchmaking. You need to invite friends or find players through Discord.
Is There Solo Play?
Yes. You can play alone. The game scales difficulty slightly for solo players — fewer entity spawns and more item drops. But the game is clearly built for groups. Solo runs feel lonely.

Two players is the sweet spot. Four gets chaotic and you will run out of items fast. Three is fine but someone always gets left behind.

- Yes. There is a mod that allows up to 8 players. It is unofficial and can cause desync issues.
